What is monkeypox?
Monkeypox is a disease caused due to effect of the MonkeyPox virus. Monkeypox was firstly discovered in 1958. When the monkeys were kept for research, outbreaks of “pox-like” diseases were caused in colonies. Monkeypox virus is part of the same group of viruses that causes smallpox/chicken pox. Monkeypox disease is rarely fatal.
